Now I blog.

The blank page.

As an artist and sometimes writer, the blank page is both inviting for it's promise - a new chance to create, and intimidating - please let me have something worthy of viewing or reading to say.

Fortunately, I get a lot of inspiration at work. While the artists who work at Soul Fire are always striving to find ways to inspire you; creating new samples, learning and passing along new techniques; adding to the tools we offer, the truth is, our customers are our best inspiration. We are constantly grateful to our customers for their fresh perspective. Take a look at some of the inspiring customer work waiting on the dipping cart Monday morning after a busy weekend.

Inspiring customer work from this weekend.

Amongst our guests this weekend was a family that includes us in their annual reunion each October. I was glad to catch them as they were arriving, and sad that I wasn't going to be able to stay and watch them work. This is a family that works well together and there are always a few collaborative pieces which I especially love. We got their glass in the kiln before I thought of taking a picture -- but all I can say is Morgan and River got to hang out with some great people and be a part of some fun art making Saturday Night!

In addition to our family reunion, we had a 12-year-old birthday party -- a few of the pieces above are from that group. I love seeing the stencils put to such good use and the free-painting projects are fantastic!

I am excited to announce that we have finished scheduling our Friday Night Live series through the end of 2017. Each month we host a series of rotating events on Friday Nights - we think it offers something for everyone.

First Friday Family Night -- Our family night projects are designed for families to design, laugh and work together to create fabulous projects and memories. Designed to share the dynamics of a family game night, we present a few different strategies for how to attack each project and each family comes up with their own approach. Soul Fire staff is always on hand for help and guidance with project details as families approach their project. Snacks provided.

Second Fridays - Italian Painting -- Using Lo Spolvero velum stencils, we transfer beautiful European pottery patterns onto your chosen project. Painting them is very much like completing an adult coloring pattern except that you've made a dinner-party worthy serving piece. This relaxing, entertaining adult evening features a buffet of savory and sweet Italian treats and wine deals.

Third Fridays - Kids Night Out - NO PARENTS ALLOWED! A movie, a project, pizza and a sweet treat are all in store for your school aged children from 6 - 9 pm. Your kids will enjoy a fun filled evening. Mom and Dad, you're on your own.

Fourth Fridays - Wine'd Down -- After a long week at the end of the month, we all need to wind down a little. Join us for an adult open project night -- you can choose from painting pottery, glass fusing, and glass or canvas painting. While this isn't a guided project, Soul Fire staff will help you get set up and going and will provide any technical assistance needed. A buffet of sweet treats and wine deals are all part of the fun.
